William Shakin, 25, a former IDF lone soldier from Great Neck, New York, passed away in New York after a difficult battle with PTSD. William made Aliyah after October 7 and served in the Golani Brigade's 13th Battalion, living at Beit Benji during his service. After completing his military service, those close to him became deeply concerned about his mental health and feared for his safety. In a recent message to a friend, William wrote about the trauma he was carrying: "A friend from my platoon was killed. I'm shaking from trauma... I just lost it." May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. Yehi zichro baruch.
